A little Bacchanalia update.
I’ve made the difficult decision to take Summer Maiden: Persephone’s Fall out of active publication for now.
I wrote the original novella more than ten years ago as a short erotic retelling. I’m still grateful for the story it began, and especially for every reader who found it, read it, reviewed it, and helped bring me back to this world.
But Bacchanalia has changed since then. And boy howdy, so have I.
Writing Bound Maiden, and now Dream Maiden, has shown me what I want these books to be: full-length dark mythic romances with room for the characters, relationships, mythology, and questions of power and surrender to fully develop.
The current Summer Maiden no longer feels like the complete Persephone story I want to tell, or like the right introduction to what Bacchanalia has become.
So I’m going to rewrite it.
First, though, Psyche gets her ending. I’m finishing Dream Maiden: Psyche’s Surrender before I return to Persephone and Aidon.
When Summer Maiden comes back, it will be a substantially expanded and reimagined novel, positioned as a prequel to the Bacchanalia books.
And in the meantime: you do not need to have read Summer Maiden to read Bound Maiden. Daphne and Apollo’s story stands on its own.
Thank you for being patient with me while these books become what I think they were meant to be.
